THE PERSON BEHIND THE PRACTICE
I started my career in 2016 as a case manager at our local community mental health agency. I worked in Erwin, Tennessee doing home visits throughout the area. Through this experience, I found myself wanting a deeper understanding of how to support healing from trauma, specifically the lingering effects of childhood trauma.
I was inspired to return to school and pursue a Master’s degree at East Tennessee State University in Social Work. Not only did I learn how to walk with folks through their healing journey, I also learned how to navigate my own struggles with anxiety. One of the most empowering things I’ve learned is how the brain does its best to keep us safe, even in ways that might seem confusing or frustrating. I’m always excited to share that understanding with my clients through accessible, down-to-earth psychoeducation.
When I'm not sitting in my comfy therapist chair, you can find me at home with my husband and three cats. It's not uncommon to find me in my garden daydreaming about tomato plants or in town wandering down a craft aisle. I enjoy a warm cup of tea with a good book, YouTube videos about houseplants, and collecting random trinkets.
